You Totally Want To Ask Her Out

For the last several days, weeks, or even months you’ve been trying to figure out how to approach her and ask her out. You’re not even really sure where you want to ask her to go or what the two of you would do, but you can’t stop thinking about it. You practice talking to her in the mirror but when the time comes to open your mouth, words come out in a jumbled heap.
You know everything about her. You heard she might be getting a tattoo. You want to ask her about it but you don’t want her to think that you listen to rumors. You heard she likes to collect used cameras for her photography. You think that’s really cool. She has decorated her laptop bag and it actually looks cool.
What stops you from asking her out is that she might say no. More than that, she might actually say yes. Then you would have to come up with hours of communication, and you are already struggling to get a simple sentence out that sounds like you.
Take a breath and think about a few simple facts. It might not seem like you can handle this, but you really can’t handle not asking her out and then watching her with someone else. You know you’re not alone, but that just isn’t much comfort right now. You have to be convinced that you are capable of dealing with someone that gets to you this much.
Maybe if you took the time you spent practicing talking to her in front of the mirror and actually wrote down a few sentences you would have something to memorize to make the process much easier. Maybe if you just got over yourself and asked her you would feel better, even if she said no.
Stop putting so much pressure on her. She isn’t looking for someone to worship her. Maybe just someone who will listen to her will be plenty. Maybe she just needs to feel understood and like she’s capable of anything. Maybe you are afraid that you’ll have to figure out how to talk to her coherently if she says she will go out with you.
If you ask her out, even just once, you have jumped a tremendous hurdle. You have showed yourself that you are more capable than you believed you were just yesterday. You have proven that you can face a challenge that makes you sweat and walk away with your head held high, regardless of the outcome.
